My Story
I entered the industry in 1989 with no mentors, no systems, and no real roadmap. We were given a few weeks of product training, handed a phone book, and told to figure it out. Decades later, not much has changed. Most advisors are still running practices that rely entirely on them.
I know that story firsthand. My father passed away unexpectedly when I was 11, and I spent my early life trying to survive. By the time I became an advisor, I had no safety net. I had to make it work. And like many others, I struggled. I reinvented the wheel with every client and couldn’t consistently attract or close high-net-worth prospects. I didn’t own a business. I had a job I couldn’t step away from.
Everything changed when I met an advisor earning $3 million a year while working less than 30 hours a week. That moment shifted my thinking. I started studying what affluent clients actually need, built systems to deliver it, assembled a strong team, and scaled with purpose.
Eventually, I built and sold a seven-figure firm. Today, I teach advisors how to do the same, without the years of trial and error. The Advisor Authority exists to give you the tools, strategy, and structure to grow faster and build a business that creates real value.
Game-Changing Moment
One day I got lucky. I met a man named Paul. In a chance encounter where we compared our three year progress, he had managed to grow his business 10x in 3 years! I had barely moved the needle. I couldn’t believe it, so I asked Paul if I could spend the day with him and he graciously said yes. I knew that if I could see what a business that did 10x what my business was doing, I could replicate it. I needed to understand the psychology of being a business owner instead of a financial advisor, and that’s exactly what I did. Three years later my own company did 10x, and after being in the industry for 30 years, I have reached levels of success I could have never imagined.
I always said that if I ever “made it”, I would turn around and give back to the advisor community so that you can touch, see, and feel what a thriving, award-winning, self-managing company looks like. The best way I know how is to pass on my knowledge, tools, and wisdom to advisors who are ready to work hard to achieve their dreams, just as I have been able to achieve mine.
